Ted Willoughby – Journal Entry Week 1 in Prosperity Lake
Times were a bit tight for us back home in Pleasantview. In order to move here, we sold off all of our belongings. We arrived with only the clothes on our backs and the $20,000 simoleons I managed to put together. With that money, I was able to purchase a nice home that came furnished. Though we weren’t left with much money after the purchase, it was well worth it. Each child has a small room of their own and there are bathrooms enough for everyone. It is on the main road in town, but noise has not been too much of a problem.
The kids are still adjusting to the move, but seem to enjoy their new town. We have met a few nice folks – the town actually has a welcoming committee!
It was so nice to have that welcome that I am considering joining the committee too.
One of the committee members is actually our next door neighbor. Her name is Lauren Stark and it seems that they have just moved in too. We talked a little about everything…it was a nice change to talk to adults! It seems she and her partner have a daughter that is just a little older than the triplets. A new friend would help settle them in.
Hehe…I’m inlcuding a picture here of myself. Viola took it after my first day at work. I can be a bit of a ham for the camera eh? I was quite excited to get this position with as an EMT with the local ambulance service. I always wanted to be a medical professional, but life took me in a different direction for a while. The Professor was true to his word and helped me land this job. I am so truly blessed for these changes that have helped me and my family.
With the blessings has come some challenges as well. The children are still adjusting to small town life. And my new job has kept me away from home for long hours so that I haven’t been able to spend as much time with each of them as I would like to teach them and support them. I even missed Winona’s birthday and the children didn’t get a picture so I have no record of her growing into a child.
On top of this, we also had a late night visitor. Thank goodness that the house came with an alarm system. Xavier was woken first by the alarm.
My bedroom is right off the entry and he peeked out the door to see what was happening. He told me that the thief had this amazing bag that he fit our couch into! I’d thinking he was fibbing, but the couch is really gone.
I’m a heavy sleeper, so I didn’t actaully wake up until the police were already there. They caught her red handed! She didn’t give up easily though.
The kids and I gathered around and cheered officer and jeered at the burglar. In a way it was exciting – they fought for quite a while and you couldn’t tell who was winning.
Luckily, the police officer won and took her away. He also said that we would get a reparations check for the stolen item. We got it the next day and I went out and purchased a new sofa that was a bit more my style. I have a pic of the kids having fun on the new couch (I shouldn’t have encouraged their behaviour but it was so great to see them having fun).
That’s Viola on the left and Zach on the right. They’re getting so big. *sigh*
In general, the kids do seem a bit unhappy and so far their grades are reflecting this. I was sent home a notice about Xavier acting out and getting bad grades. I don’t think our burglar situation helped anything either. Winona redused to sleep in her bed because she was scared to be alone. Although, I was promoted to Paramedic, my hours are still not great – I’m working the 8pm-2am shift. In spite of it, I’m working hard to help turn things around here.
I managed to improve things somewhat by the time the triplets had their birthday at the end of the week. Unfortunately, I was at work again when they grew up to teens. This time though we planned ahead and they took pictures for me. Here they are:
Viola – isn’t she beautiful! =)
(Professor’s note: She is a Knowledge Sim. Her LTW is to become a Chief of Staff . She is attracted to glasses and brown hair. She is repelled by full face makeup.)
And here is Xavier – he grew up quite strong!
(Professor’s note: He is also Knowledge Sim. His LTW is to become a Criminal Mastermind. Hmmm….I wonder if that burglary had an influence on him or if it is just his mother’s genes coming out. Interesting. He is attracted to makeup and custom hair. He is repelled by obesity.)
And here is Zach – Mr. Suave =)
(Professor’s note: He is a Popularity Sim. His LTW is to have 20 simultaneous best friends. He is attracted to makeup and red hair. He is also repelled by obesity.)
